Thesis Title: Archaeology during the Pleistocene-Holocene Transition: Paleoindian components, Organization of Lithic Technology and Mobility of the First Americans in Uruguay

About

I’m archaeologist with PhD in Natural Sciences, my pricipal focus of research is South America Paleoindian or Paleoamerican Archaeology. Other interests are hunter-gatherer lifeways, lithic technology, raw material acquisition, organization of lithic technology by hunter-gatherers and geoarchaeology.
I enjoy both my teaching task course of the American Prehistory in the Anthropology Department (Universidad de la República - FHCE) and the research of early Paleoamerican sites. Our research allowed to define two early archaeological components with new and unknown projectile point designs for Pleistocene Holocene transition of Southeast of South America and found the first records of Pleistocene fauna at an early archaeological site in Uruguay.
Currently with the research team I lead we are excavating sites in the plains of the Uruguay River and early human occupations recently discovered in rockshelters and caves of the North Uruguay. The research carried out includes the collaboration of uruguayan and researchers of North and South America and Europe.
